Training for Students

IVIC Ltd Training believes that every child matters and will support schools in the training of KS4 students to reach their full potential. Our team of highly experienced instructors are passionate about supporting young people to improve their future economic well-being and help in creating self-confidence and independence for the individual.

Lead Instructor Phil Brown has Over 10 years of experience training KS4 students who have difficulty engaging with mainstream curriculum. He offers a unique training style, proven to motivate and encourage young people to engage in a range of vocational packages including, Emergency First Aid at Work, Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, Fire Safety Awareness, CSCS for Specialists & Operatives, plus many more. 
Each student will receive full support and guidance throughout the course and will receive fully accredited qualifications, certified by Ofqual. Our mission is to assist young people to gain the skills they need for their transition into employment.

  • QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course is to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to cope with a range of first aid situations, specifically in community or voluntary activities, such as sports. 

    This course forms part of our Education Services (see page).



    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old



    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    8 people



    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 2 days, totalling 17 hours of learning

         

    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT  

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.



    This course involves 12 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. The remaining 5 hours are allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.



    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.



    CERTIFICATION

    The successful candidate(s) will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF). 



    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification will remain valid for 3 years. After this time, it is recommended to attend a refresher course.



    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

  • QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an AED (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently provide Basic Life Support and to safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

    This course forms part of our Education Services (see page).



    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old

    8 people



    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over half a day, totalling 5 hours of learning



    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.



    This course involves 4 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.



    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an AED (RQF).

  • QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively pass messages to emergency services, prioritise injuries and to provide first aid during events, such as stabbings, shootings, terrorist activities or other deliberate multiple casualty incidents. 

    The aim of this course is to enable the learner to help save lives.

    Learners must be at least 14 years old

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Effective reporting of incidences to emergency services

    • Determining the appropriate actions to take in events, including: unattended suspicious items, exploded bombs, knife/acid/vehicle attacks and active shooters.

    • Prioritising multiple casualties

    • Dealing with unresponsive casualties

    • Controlling severe external bleeding


  • QA Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF)

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of first aid situations.

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of first aid situations. These skills will enable them to take on the role of an emergency first aider in the workplace.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    8 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 3 days, totalling 22 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 18 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 4 hours is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF).

    Qualifcation overview


    This qualification forms part of the QA Health and Safety suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning, outcomes are based on therecommendations of:


    • National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and Safety


    • Good practice outlined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)


    • ConstructionSkills and the Build Environment Awarding Body Forum (BEABF)


    This qualification is supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and develops Learners’ basic awareness of health and safety in a construction environment.

    Objectives


    The objective of the qualification is to develop Learners’ knowledge and understanding of health and safety in

    a construction environment so they can work safely on a construction site.


    Purpose


    The purpose of this qualification is to prepare KS4 learners for employment in a construction environment and is one route towards applying for the Green Labourer CSCS card.


    Learners who successfully complete QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) and have completed the CITB Health,Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years can apply for a Green Labourer CSCS card.


    Intended audience


    This qualification is for all learners within KS4 who wish to pursue employment within the constuction industry.

  • CSCS Test Revision

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this session are to revisit the material and topics covered, in preparation for learners sitting the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test. 

    This session is  aimed at individuals as part of their pathway to applying for a CSCS Green Labourer Card. 



    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old, to participate in the CSCS Test.

    Learners must have completed a Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in Construction, IOSH Working Safely Award or equivalent.


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people



    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The session is classroom based and will cover all the safety categories associated with the CITB HS&E Test.

    This course takes place over a half day, totalling 4 hours of learning.


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course is entirely theory based.


    This course involves 3 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to study and assessment without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling (RQF)
