Working at Height

  • QA Level 2 Award in the Working at Height (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The aim of this course is for learners to raise awareness in the use of ladders, step ladders, harnesses and a variety of other equipment, as well as the principles used when working at height. Learners will focus on safety considerations, legal obligations, hierarchy of control and reporting procedures for defective equipment.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old

    12 people


    DURATION

    This course takes place over a half day, totalling 3 hours of learning.


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course is entirely theory based.


    This course involves 3 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in the Working at Height (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. This qualification does not require a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.


    Topics covered:

    • Legislation, regulations, roles and responsibilities when working at height
    • Safe practices and precautions
    • Reducing the risks, including: weather conditions, working environments, colleagues, falling objects and fragile surfaces
    • Importance of risk assessments
    • Rescue plan requirements
    • Selecting, testing and types of equipment
    • Reporting procedures for faulty equipment
