  • QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course is to provide the
    learner(s) with the knowledge and practical
    skills needed to cope with a range of first aid situations, specifically in community or voluntary activities, such as sports. 

    This course forms part of our Education Services (see page).


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    8 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 2 days, totalling 17 hours of learning

         

    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT  

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 12 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. The remaining 5 hours are allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    The successful candidate(s) will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF). 


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification will remain valid for 3 years. After this time, it is recommended to attend a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

  • QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults & Children (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently provide Basic Life Support to Adults, Children and Infants.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    8 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over half a day, totalling 4 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 3 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults & Children (RQF).


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Recognising when to commence CPR or defibrillation, including: procedures on Adults, Children and Infants
    • Assessing levels of consciousness
    • Airways and breathing
    • Choking treatments for Adults, Children and Infants
  • QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support & Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF).

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently provide Basic Life Support and manage anaphylaxis. 



    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old

    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over half a day, totalling 5 hours of learning

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Its content has been approved by the Anaphylaxis Campaign. Certification is valid for 1 year, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.


    Topics covered:

    • Role and responsibilities of a first aider, including: incident assessment, managing an unresponsive casualty and the recovery position
    • CPR and Defibrillation
    • Sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis 
    • Common triggers and treatment of anaphylaxis
    • Medication: including adrenaline auto-injectors
  • QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an AED (RQF).

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently provide Basic Life Support and to safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively pass messages to emergency services, prioritise injuries and to provide first aid during events, such as stabbings, shootings, terrorist activities or other deliberate multiple casualty incidents. 

    The aim of this course is to enable the learner to help save lives.

    Topics covered:

    • Effective reporting of incidences to emergency services
    • Determining the appropriate actions to take in events, including: unattended suspicious items, exploded bombs, knife/acid/vehicle attacks and active shooters.
    • Prioritising multiple casualties
    • Dealing with unresponsive casualties
    • Controlling severe external bleeding
  • QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrillation (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the 

    learner(s) with the knowledge and practical 

    skills needed to deal with a range of first aid situations. It will also include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old

    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over half a day, totalling 6 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 5 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.

    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrillation (RQF).
