  • QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of pre-hospital emergency situations, and deliver safe, prompt and effective care.

    It is aimed at individuals seeking a career in emergency or ambulatory services, or who already work in high risk workplaces.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 17 years old.

    Learners would benefit from having a basic understanding of first aid and basic literacy and numeracy skills, however these are not mandatory requirements.

    8 people



    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 5 days, totalling 150 hours of learning



    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.



    This course involves a minimum of 35 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor over a 5 day period. The remaining 118 hours are allocated to self-directed study and practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.



    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor and multiple choice tests for each unit.



    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF).



    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification is valid for 3 years, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.



    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

    • Managing airways
    • Managing unresponsive patients
    • Administering emergency oxygen
    • Use of resuscitation equipment
    • Catastrophic & external bleeding
    • Shock
    • Burns & scolds
    • Minor injuries
    • Poisoning
    • Head & spinal injuries
    • Bones, muscles & joints
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Heart attacks & angina
    • Stroke
    • Diabetes
    • Seizures
    • Hypo/hyperthermia
    • Sun stroke & dehydration
    • Exhaustion
