Manual Handling

  • QA Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The aim of this course is for learners to develop their understanding of the principles behind safe manual handling, so that they can be applied in the workplace environment and exercise safe practices.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people


    DURATION

    This course takes place over a half day, totalling 4 hours of learning.


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course is entirely theory based.


    This course involves 3 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to study and assessment without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in the Principles of Manual Handling (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification is valid for 3 years, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

    • Theory of safe manual handling, including team manual handling
    • Common injuries from improper manual handling
    • Responsibilities of the employer and employees
    • Risk assessments
    • Musculoskeletal system
    • Manual handling equipment

    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    This course will be taught through audio-visual presentations and talks, before the learners are given the opportunity to practice the methods covered under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 6 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to study and assessment without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.
