  • QA Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with the knowledge of basic health and safety in the workplace. This will ensure they are keeping themselves and others safe at all times.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over a half day, totalling 5 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 4 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification is valid for 3 years, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

  • QA Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to develop a learners knowledge and understanding of health & safety with more advanced knowledge of the legislation behind Health & Safety and an understanding of the principles behind risk assessments and workplace hazard prevention.  

    This course is recommended for those in a supervisory/management level role. 


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old. It is also recommended that they hold a valid Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 3 days, totalling 26 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 21 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 5 hours is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 3 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • QA Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with knowledge and understanding of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health. It will include precautions, procedures and controls that are necessary when working with/around hazardous substances.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old

    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over half a day, totalling 5 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 4 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification is valid for 3 years, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.


    This course can be delivered at the clients specified location or on IVIC Training premises. Course fees are dependant on the size of the group to be taught and the venue/travel arrangements. This can be discussed with the course organiser during registration.

    • Responsibilities of the employer and employees
    • Common hazardous substances, exposure to them and their effects
    • Handling, transporting, storing, using and disposing of hazardous substances
    • Procedures for dealing with an incident involving hazardous substances
    • 5 steps to completing a risk assessment
    • How risk assessments reduce workplace accidents


  • QA Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the learner(s) with knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace, risk assessments and the relationships between hazards and risks. It will also include some background information on the legislation behind risk assessments and its use.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old.

    The course will be conducted over a single day, totalling 7 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 6 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.

  • QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of this course are to provide the 

    learner(s) with knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace, risk assessments, and the relationship between hazards and risks. 

    This course is recommended for learners responsible for conducting risk assessments within a low risk environment, e.g. supervisor or site manager.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 16 years old. It is also recommended that learners possess a valid Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment (RQF).


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people


    DURATION

    The course will be conducted over 2 days, totalling 17 hours of learning


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 13 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 4 hours is allocated to practicing the taught methods without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Controlling hazards, including suitable prevention methods
    • The process of completing a risk assessment
  • QA Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in Health & Social Care (RQF)

    AIM & OBJECTIVES

    The aim of this course is for learners to develop their understanding of Health & Safety awareness in a Health & Social Care environment, in order to ensure they are keeping themselves and those under their care safe.

    This course is recommended for health care professionals, working directly with patients/clients.


    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Learners must be at least 14 years old


    MAX. GROUP SIZE

    12 people


    DURATION

    This course takes place over a single day, totalling 8 hours of learning.


    DELIVERY & ASSESSMENT

    The course will be delivered through audio-visual presentations and practical demonstrations. Learners will also have the opportunity to practice new skills under instructor supervision.


    This course involves 7 hours of Guided Learning, during which the learner is taught and assessed under immediate supervision of an instructor. 

    The remaining 1 hour is allocated to study and assessment without immediate supervision.


    Assessment for completion consists of competent demonstration of skills to the instructor.


    CERTIFICATION

    Successful candidates will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in Health & Social Care (RQF)


    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This is a Registered Qualification Framework, which is nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. Certification is valid for 3 years, after which time it is recommended to attend a refresher course.

  • Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment

    Qualifcation overview


    This qualification forms part of the QA Health and Safety suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:


    • National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and Safety

    • Good practice outlined by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)

    • ConstructionSkills and the Build Environment Awarding Body Forum (BEABF)

    This qualification is supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and develops Learners’ basic awareness of health and safety in a construction environment. 


    It includes knowing the risks of working within a construction environment and the principles of:-


    Risk assessment for improving health and safety at work.

    The importance of safe manual handling. 

    The importance of working safely at height.

    The importance of working around equipment safely.


    Purpose


    The purpose of this qualification is to prepare Learners for employment in a construction environment and is one route towards applying for the Green Labourer CSCS card. 


    Learners who successfully complete QA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (RQF) and have completed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last 2 years can apply for a Green Labourer CSCS card.


    Intended audience


    This qualification is for all Learners working in, or wanting to work in, a construction environment. It is also suitable for refresher training.
